The Revival of 20th Century Writing is a 70-page book. It focuses on five extremely influential Western calligraphers going in chronological order with an introduction that starts with Edward Johnston who essentially revived what seemed to be a lost art. It also features Rudolf Koch, Irene Wellington, Hermann Zapf, Donald Jackson, and Raphael Boguslav. As the book progresses, the reader is able to see the development and modernization of calligraphy, ending with Boguslav who used calligraphy as graphic design. The progression was a way for me to bring the book back and relate it to myself and my study at Drexel University.
